The DEFCON Student Network is an exciting new initiative at the Stanford Gordian Knot Center for National Security Innovation bringing fresh talent and innovation into the work of security, defense, and resilience. Check it out!
We witnessed something extraordinary this weekend: over 500 developers, coders, and tech visionaries converging in Silicon Valley to tackle some of the most pressing challenges in national security. The Stanford Gordian Knot Center was thrilled to host the kickoff event on Friday evening, where we formally launched the Stanford DEFCON Student Network, before a weekend of hacking in San Francisco. This event was the largest national security-focused hackathon ever held in Silicon Valley, marking a milestone in collaborative problem-solving and innovation. The importance of engaging talented developers and coders in solving real-world problems cannot be overstated. By bringing their unique skills to the table, participants demonstrated the powerful impact of technology in safeguarding our future. A big thank you to everyone who participated, organized, and supported this event. Your dedication and creativity are inspiring a new era of tech-driven peace and security. Let's continue to push the boundaries of what's possible and make the world a better, safer place through innovation and collaboration. The new Program on Taiwan at the Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center is a timely addition to our research community. Their interdisciplinary work will bring critical insight into the social, economic, strategic, and political landscape of contemporary #Taiwan.
🇹🇼 “The Taiwan Program will do what Stanford does best — provide a cross-disciplinary, university-wide hub, where scholars from across campus and beyond can convene to study contemporary Taiwan,” said Stanford University President Richard Saller at the May 2 opening of the program’s inaugural conference, “Innovate Taiwan.” https://lnkd.in/gRn5zaZu 🙏 What an incredible day it was, filled with inspiration and insights as we celebrated the launch of APARC’s new Taiwan Program. A heartfelt thank you to our outstanding speakers and all the passionate supporters, partners, colleagues, students, and attendees who made this event a resounding success. And a special shoutout to our friends who journeyed from Taiwan to be with us – your presence made it all the more special! We’re excited about the next steps of working together to build the program as a catalyst for multidisciplinary research, teaching, and dialogue about contemporary Taiwan. 💫 Huge thanks to our phenomenal speakers Ted Chang, Tiffany Chang, Steve Chen, Carissa Cheng, Yi-Ting Chung, Jason Hsu, CY Huang (FCC Partners Asia), Pei-Chia Lan (National Taiwan University), Ruo-Fan Liu (University of Wisconsin-Madison and soon APARC), Bobby Sheng, Rose Tsou, Jing Tsu, jason wang, and moderators Karen Eggleston, Larry Diamond, Kiyoteru Tsutsui, and Marco Widodo. 📸: Rod Searcey #taiwan #taiwanprogram #contemporarytaiwan #ustaiwanrelations #research

Neither wind, nor rain, nor gloom of night can keep alumni from the Ford Dorsey Master's in International Policy from getting together! This April, almost 40 Washington D.C.-based alumni from our MIP/IPS programs gathered for an Alumni Mixer and Reconnect. Francis Fukuyama hosted, and everyone had an opportunity to chat, catch up, and pick up some swag. If we missed you this time, please be in touch with Maeve Richard to connect next time!
